@krstcmjns Most teas contain theanine, which elevates levels of synaptic dopamine (also works on GABA receptors; same recpetors that bezodiazepines work on (Xanax, Valium) in the human brain. Theanine is resonsible for most tea’s calming effect, NOT caffeine. Coffee (which contains no theanine) is CERNTAINLY not calming. And, as someone who suffers from moderate anxiety, and severe panic attacks, I can tell you (as every else knows) that caffeine DOES evelate, and can even cause anxiety.
